This was supposed to be a simple character portrait for my site, but things got outta hand.... This is Laurea, another one of my elves. She's actually the first elf character I ever created, she just doesn't get much drawing time. I tried to do a fancy-ish background. I used the clouds filter and then a brush to bring some of them out a bit. It's nothing special, but it's better than just a flat background. I'm pretty happy with this, except for her hair, I don't like how I colored it. Can't wait for a tablet.
Beautiful work, I especially love how there seems to be a sort of design-y feel to the folds of her outfit. This picture, overall, has a wonderful sense of movement to it, nothing here is static. The pose is also very realistic and conveys a real sense of excitement and enthusiasm, which is tough to portray through an anime style without looking cheesy (you know, jumping little characters giving peace signs. I shudder at the thought) My only critique here is that her nose looks a bit too long. As a rule of thumb, I try to remember that the nose is about as long as the forehead, because facial proportions can be really hard in profile! Great job!

Thanks! Yeah, I have a tendency to draw long noses on all my characters, I'll remember that tip you gave me And I don't think I've ever received such an in-depth comment before, I really appreciate it

Love the hair in this one, and absolutely LOVE the cloths. They look fantastic. The folds are perfect.
