did you base this concept from the books? I remember that thranduil was so much different in the book than the movie and he was described as a fair and gentle ruler... a king any fangirl would fall in love with. a far cry from the hotheaded hardass we know today.

Yes, I tried to pull as much from the book description as I could. This was done right before the first Hobbit movie came out.
